Cleaning reclaimed golf balls is an essential step in preparing them for resale and ensuring they meet performance expectations. After retrieval, the balls are sorted and soaked in a cleaning solution to loosen dirt, algae, and other debris collected from water hazards or rough terrain. Gentle scrubbing and the use of specialized ball-cleaning machines helps restore their original appearance without damaging the cover. Once cleaned, the balls are thoroughly rinsed and dried.

Once cleaned, each ball is inspected for wear, discoloration, and damage to the cover or dimples. They are then separated into categories — labeled as Mint (like-new condition), A grade (slight cosmetic blemishes but no performance impact), and Practice or Grade B/C (visible scuffs, discoloration, or logos that may affect aesthetics but remain playable). Premium balls in top condition are sold at a higher price, while lower grades are ideal for beginners, driving ranges, or practice sessions. This careful grading ensures buyers receive consistent quality, meets their budget, and maintains trust in the reclaimed golf ball market.
